Rules and Regulations for Glass Valley Cemetery

Purchase of Lots:
  1. A Deed, for burial of human remains purposes only, must be completed before any interment can be made.
  2. Upon the full payment of the price set by the Board, the Clerk shall issue such Deed.
  3. Persons wishing to dispose of their lot shall sell it back to the Town at the original purchase price.
  4. An approved burial vault is required for each regular interment.  Cremated remains must be buried in an urn, but a vault is not needed.
  5. Up to 4 cremation urns may be placed on a lot along with one regular interment provided that the regular interment occurs first.
Care of Lots:
  1. Planting of flowers, shrubs or trees is prohibited without the approval of the Cemetery Committee.
  2. Flowers, wreaths, crosses, or other decorations must be contained in an urn or other device off the ground to facilitate mowing.
  3. When flowers, shrubs, or other decorations become wilted or unsightly, they may be removed by the Town Representative.
  4. The emptying of urns or flowerpots is the responsibility of the owner.
Monuments and Markers:
  1. Installers of Monuments and Markers must consult with the Cemetery Committee before work begins in order to achieve conformity.
  2. All markers must have no less than a five- (5) inch concrete border.
  3. All monuments must have no less than a five- (5) inch concrete border and a suitable foundation.
  4. The maintenance of monuments and markers is the responsibility of the installer, but the Town reserves the right to repair or remove the same if they become unsightly or dangerous.
Liabilities of the Town:
  1. The Town is not liable for damaged, stolen, lost, or misplaced monuments, markers, urns, flowers, etc. by causes beyond its reasonable control.
  2. The Town reserves, and shall have, the right to correct any errors made by it, either in making interments or removals, or in the description, transfer or conveyance of any interment property, either by canceling such conveyance and substituting and conveying in lieu thereof other interment property of equal value and similar location as far as possible, or as may be selected by the Town, or, in the sole discretion of the Town, by refunding the amount of money paid on account of said purchase.  In the event such errors shall involve the interment of the remains of any person in such property, the Town reserves, and shall have, the right to remove and/or transfer such remains so interred to such other property of equal value and similar location as may be substituted and conveyed in lieu thereof.
  3. In the event of a misunderstanding or dispute regarding these rules, the decision of the Town Board shall be final and binding on all parties.
